A 3.6m by 3.6m Victorian greenhouse was recently delivered to a client in Illinois. This custom structure was engineered to handle extreme Midwest weather. The project required precise communication and careful material selection.
RAL 7032 Pebble Grey was specified by the client from the start. This shade is notoriously difficult to produce. Many batches appear cold or dirty under strong sunlight. Our team selected a premium outdoor polyester powder coating for the job. Multiple curing tests were conducted in the laboratory. We successfully locked in the warm undertone that defines RAL 7032.
The finished frame looks elegant and timeless. It blends softly with summer greenery. It stands out warmly against winter snow. The client confirmed this effect with photos from their estate.
Illinois falls within USDA hardiness zones 5 and 6. Blizzards and hailstorms strike regularly in winter. Standard greenhouses cannot survive these conditions. We raised the total height to 420 centimetres for a steep roofline. This pitch lets snow slide off naturally. Gravity eliminates the need for manual clearing.
The roof uses 5 millimetre solid polycarbonate panels with a light blue tint. Full thickness is maintained without any reduction. Impact resistance handles large hail with ease. A co‑extruded UV layer blocks all harmful radiation. Panels stay clear and strong for over ten years.
Interior furnishings are protected from fading. The blue tint reduces solar heat gain significantly. Summer cooling costs are lowered as a result.
Laser codes were applied to every aluminium profile and hardware piece. These codes match the English instructions exactly. Local contractors identify parts without confusion. Heavy wooden crates were built for sea transport. Each crate contains foam padding and vacuum sealing. Moisture and salt spray are kept out completely.
The full frame was assembled in our workshop before shipping. Every hole and screw aligned perfectly. Short videos were recorded for tricky connection points. These resources helped the client’s team complete the build smoothly.
The client expressed genuine satisfaction after assembly. They praised the warm grey colour and the structural strength. The 5mm roof and heavy frame gave them confidence for winter. Direct factory pricing delivered premium quality without middleman costs. The greenhouse now stands proudly on their Illinois property.
